The Dilemma of Desire Kickstarter campaign raises 130% of fundraising goal!

The Kickstarter campaign for The Dilemma of Desire, the newest film from Peabody Award-winning director Maria Finitzo and Kartemquin Films, ended this past Monday, April 22. However, you can still donate to the film HERE.

The campaign sky-rocketed during its first week, reaching its goal of $40K in just eight days. The filmmakers then announced a stretch goal of $50K, which they also surpassed, demonstrating an intense demand for and excitement around the project. The funds will go towards the final editing and finishing costs for the film.

The Dilemma of Desire explores the clash between the power of gender politics and the equally powerful imperatives of female sexual desire. It's directed by Maria Finitzo (In the Game, Mapping Stem Cell Research: Terra Incognita, and produced by Diane Quon (Minding the Gap) and Cynthia Kane (Sundance Channel, ITVS, and Al Jazeera America).

Finitzo, Quon, and Kane have assembled a powerhouse group of female collaborators for the project, including Barbara Kopple (Harlan County, USA; American Dream) as executive producer, Ro*Co Films as Global Sales Agents, and a board of advisors that includes 'The Vagina Monologues' creator Eve Ensler, legendary feminist psychologist Carol Gilligan ('In a Different Voice'), and Cynthia Lopez, Executive Director of New York Women in Film and Television.
